Mauritius Holiday Deals – If you don’t want to pay retail Prices!
Mauritius has excellent weather all year round so tourists can take a holiday there any time. However, the tourist high season is between the months of November and April. These are the summer months in Mauritius. Low season is between July and September which are considered winter months.
Mauritius is served by a number of international airlines because it is a popular tourist destination. Airlines that fly there from the UK include British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, British Midland, Air France, Emirates Airlines, KLM and Air Mauritius (the national airline).
Low season fares from the UK will be anything from about £670 to £1500. These fares almost double during the high season. The cheapest airline tends to be Emirates Airlines. However, it is not a direct flight to Mauritius. There is a stopover in Dubai. Mauritius Airlines offers good deals but there fares will start from £670 or from £970 return depending on the airport from which you are flying from. It is cheaper to fly out of London Heathrow.
As far as accommodation goes, Mauritius offers a wide range of options. You can opt to stay at one of the luxury hotels and resorts. Some of the more famous ones include the Oberoi, The Four Seasons, Le Touessrock, Le Pavillions and Paradis Hotel and Golf Club. These top end hotels offer excellent service, a host of amenities and very luxurious surroundings, but at a price. Accommodation rates will vary greatly depending on the season. High season rates will average from about £350 per night per person sharing on half board basis. The rates can go as high as £1000 per night depending on occupancy levels, the particular hotel or resort and the period. Typically, prices around Christmas or the New Year will be at the highest. Low season rates will average £250 per night per person sharing on half board basis.
Accommodation rates will be lower if you book for more than a few nights. Many hotels in Mauritius will offer special rates to guests who stay with them for at least a week. It is a good idea to opt for half board as opposed to full board particularly if you want to spend your days sightseeing.
An option to look into for more affordable accommodation rates is the self catering villas. These provide a more intimate setting. Many come with servants at an additional cost. Prices for these villas will range from £150 per night for a 2 person villa or £250 per night for a 4 person villa. High season rated will be anything from 100% to 250% higher. The villas are of different sizes from two bed-roomed to even five bed-roomed. They are ideal for couples or families on vacation.
Guesthouses and B&Bs are possibly the cheapest accommodation options in Mauritius. A good thing about them too is that their rates will under normal circumstances not fluctuate depending on the season. Rates will be as low as £50 a night.
