Golf in Mauritius
Who would have thought that an Island in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa would have such a great range of golf courses? The climate and the notion of giving people what they want have combined to make Golf Holidays in Mauritius, a golfer’s paradise. Below we give you a brief profile of each course:
Belle Mare Plage Golf Club
There are 2 courses the Links and the Legend course, both are stunning golf courses, if you are staying at the Belle Mare Plage resort or Le Prince Maurice hotel, you can play at either for free(let me tell you that is reason alone to stay at either of these 2 if you are a golfer), otherwise the green fee is 100 euros to play. Both courses measure around 6,500 yard, the links course being a par 71 course and the Legend a par 72.Le Touessrok One and Only Golf Club
Designed by Bernhard Langer this par 73 course stretches 7,100 yards from the back tees though only 6500 yards from the Tournament tees at a Par 72. The course is on its own private island, Ile au Cerfs which translated means the Island of the Deers, it is a beautiful golf course, most of it ocean facing with a meandering coast line dancing in and out of volcanic rock bays and a real challenge by european standards. Access to the course is by boat(10 minutes in a water taxi) though helicopters have been seen landing on the island, making this a seriously unique experience. If you are staying at Le Touessrok, the golf course is free, green fees for non residents are upto 150 euros depending on the season.Golf du Chateau
